Ken Hackathorn's
TACTICAL PISTOL CLASS

August 21 & 22, 2010 at the
Firearms Academy of Seattle Tactical Training Range,
east of Chehalis, WA

To meet the needs of our advanced-level shooters, The Firearms Academy of Seattle is pleased to offer the unconventional training methods of Ken Hackathorn. This instructor believes it is crucial to be able to use the defensive handgun accurately while moving, from behind cover, twisting to the right or left and in other disadvantageous conditions.

In this class, students learn to perform good marksmanship while faced with a variety of challenges, the likes of which are rarely seen in formal training courses for either law enforcement or private citizens. Beyond moving and shooting, other topics include defenses for couples in which only one is armed, defense against a threat from behind, close-quarter defense and withdrawal while shooting, Hackathorn’s own take on “point-shooting,” low light handgun skills, one-handed operation of the pistol, and numerous pointers for self-coaching in practice after the class.

Hackathorn’s credentials to teach tactical courses are unparalleled. He served as US Army Special Forces Small Arms Instructor, is credentialed as an FBI firearms instructor and serves as a deputy sheriff in Ohio. The outfits he has trained include Special Operations forces, Marine FAST and SOTG units and FBI SWAT and HRT teams, just to name a few. He is contracted to teach overseas forces, and continues to generate controversy with his cutting-edge training drills when he teaches small arms skills to classes of police and private citizens across the U.S.

Equipment: Handgun, safe belt holster, at least 3 magazines or speed loaders and pouches, 500 rounds of ammunition, body armor if you have it, wrap-around eye protection, ear muffs and kneepads. Prerequisite: Defensive Handgun or equivalent 40 hours training.

Due to the nature of the instruction, we must require that students have a valid, state-issued permit or license to carry a concealed weapon, police or military I.D. or a letter from your local law enforcement agency showing that they have performed a full background check on you and that you have no criminal history.
