Both the Kubotan/Persuader type of self-defense tool (mini-baton) and aerosol pepper sprays (Oleoresin Capsicum) have become very popular as intermediate (non-lethal) defense tools. However, without the proper training, the person employing either of these tools dramatically decreases their odds of mounting a successful defense. Like anything worthwhile, it takes a little dedication to get good at it, and physically defending yourself against attack is a proposition that should be taken very seriously.

Learn about both of these intermediate self defense options in a convenient one-day class. Here are some of the skills and details you will learn:

Pepper sprays work well under optimum conditions (against an undedicated attacker), but against a hardened street criminal, it may just merely annoy them! Don't believe everything you read about the effectiveness of pepper sprays, it may get you killed! Take this 8-hour class to not only learn how to use it wisely as a defense tool, but to understand what to do if attacked by a pepper spray wielding attacker.

The mini-baton carried on the keychain is used in leverage and pain-compliance techniques but require specific technique for it to be an effective means of defense. The mini-baton is most valued because it can be carried openly almost anywhere, and thus is immediately available without any time lost. Students will practice jabs and strikes on padded bags and learn the Persuader's use to escape grabs from the front and from behind. Students receive a free mini-batons with the course.

Do you know how to defend your handgun against a large, aggressive attacker, or what to do if a street thug sticks a gun in your face during an assault and threatens to blow your head off? Once you complete this class, you will know exactly what to do.

One of the prevailing arguments against civilian armed defense is the notion that "you will just have the gun taken away from you," especially regarding women and firearms. This intensive eight-hour seminar teaches techniques that are the same as those taught to law enforcement personnel throughout the nation, techniques that allow you to control your weapon, even in a struggle with an adversary who is much bigger and stronger than you. A discussion on disparity of force issues centered around when an armed individual may be justified in shooting an unarmed attacker is included.

THESE TECHNIQUES WORK, even for small people against large attackers, using leverage instead of strength to retain your handgun or disarm your attacker. Training exercises undertaken with inert castings of pistols, supplied for the class by the Academy. Due to the sensitive nature of the material learned, we must require a valid state-issued Concealed Weapons Permit, police or military ID or other background check prior to participation in this course.
