Erick Gelhaus 2-Day West Coast Reactive Shotgun

This two-day class will cover the shotgun from nomenclature to manipulations and - ultimately - using it defensively in your home or business.

By the end of the class, you’ll have the skills needed to manipulate your shotgun and keep it loaded to the extent that you will have the bandwidth necessary to solve a judgmental shooting problem.

This class is suitable for a shooter who is new to the shotgun, as well as experienced shotgunners.

While I’ll never discourage you from having your handgun with you, the emphasis of this class is on using your shotgun.  

Ammunition:

300 rounds of training birdshot or buckshot;
25 rounds of quality defensive buckshot (#1B or 00B);
25 slugs;
NO Steel Shot!

 

Equipment Needs

A reliable pistol with a correctly mounted optical sight and at least three magazines;
Eye & ear protection;
12ga or 20ga Shotgun with sights – bead, traditional, or optics;
A way(s) to carry extra ammunition – a receiver or buttstock mounted shell holder, belt loops, or dump pouch;
Handheld flashlight or weapon-mounted light;
Clothing appropriate to the weather, sunscreen;
Please bring your lunch, Scooby snacks, caffeine, and—of course—water. We will break, but the less time we spend on lunch, the more time we can spend on your dot.

About The Instructor:

What differentiates CMS and Erick Gelhaus from the other competent, talented instructors out there? Why take a class from CMS? Good questions. Quite simply, Gelhaus brings real experience from both the academic and practical application worlds to the classroom.

In addition to lengthy careers in both the military and law enforcement, Erick's grad school coursework focused on communicating about Use of Force issues. He is a well-published author, with articles appearing in numerous print magazines and several online publications.

Gelhaus has taught the defensive use of firearms and tactics in the private sector – for Gunsite, Aimpoint, and others – to vetted citizens, peace officers, and service members since for more than 20 years.
