Erick Gelhaus - Pistol Mounted Optics

We will spend the day improving your ability to employ a pistol-mounted optic (regardless of the dot’s color) for your needs, whether for defensive carry, law enforcement, or other purposes.

Before this class, you should be comfortable drawing your handgun from the holster, reloading it, and clearing any stoppages.

Care & feeding of your dot;
Zeroing – if needed;
Dot acquisition from the holster & ready positions;

Ammunition:

300 rounds of reliable training ammunition for your handgun;
15 rounds of defensive ammunition to zero; *

 

Equipment Needs

A reliable pistol with a correctly mounted optical sight and at least three magazines;
Eye & ear protection;
Belt that will support your holstered pistol and magazines;
Magazine pouches;
Anti-Fog / Cat Crap & Lens Paper/Cloth
Extra battery;
Optic adjustment tool;
Please bring your lunch, Scooby snacks, caffeine, and—of course—water. We will break, but the less time we spend on lunch, the more time we can spend on your dot.

About The Instructor:

What differentiates CMS and Erick Gelhaus from the other competent, talented instructors out there? Why take a class from CMS? Good questions. Quite simply, Gelhaus brings real experience from both the academic and practical application worlds to the classroom.

In addition to lengthy careers in both the military and law enforcement, Erick's grad school coursework focused on communicating about Use of Force issues. He is a well-published author, with articles appearing in numerous print magazines and several online publications.

Gelhaus has taught the defensive use of firearms and tactics in the private sector – for Gunsite, Aimpoint, and others – to vetted citizens, peace officers, and service members since for more than 20 years.
